How to set up a web page - Search Engine Optimisation
Search engine optimisation, what is it? It is creating your page in such a way that search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo will give you page a favourable ranking when a relevant term is searched. The best ranking to achieve is being on the first page at number 1 position
Here are a few tips that will help your page progress up the search engine lists.
- Asked a few people what they would type in to find your web site on Google, eg "How to set up a web page".
- With those keywords I made the following changes.
- Changed the title, using the keywords.
- Shortened the meta tag keywords and description using mainly the keywords.
- Put a header one tag in, using the keywords.
- Changed the home page link, using the keywords. The external links to the page will be all using the same format.
- Making sure that in the text I had placed the keywords and it also helps to use the italics and bold tags.
- I also added to the footer of the page the keyword as well.
As you can see the above suggestions are implemented on this page, getting as many external links to your site improves the rank on the search engine.
